Microblading Information

Please take a minute and read all of the info on our site first before booking an appointment! This will hopefully answer most your questions about Microblading, if not we can go over them at your appointment. I want you to be informed prior to your microblading session!

What is Microblading?

Microblading or Brow Stroking - is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure that applies organic pigment under the skin into the epidermis using a manual hand held tool with a disposable blade instead of a machine. Almost any look can be achieved with this method. This amazing brow service is suitable for clients who ideally have the wrong brow shape, over plucked, loss of hair/patchy areas that won't grow back. We can create thin, realistic hair strokes for a natural finish. Sparse or missing brows can be completely restored! This is an excellant treatment for anyone looking to improve or enhance the appearance of their eyebrows.

How long does the procedure take?

90 minutes to Two hours. The consultation is actually part of your appointment!  After filling out the paperwork, you will be numbed, then we'll do the consultation, draw your brow shape to your liking and take photos even before the procedure begins.

About the Consultation

Consultations can be scheduled before or performed on same day of microblading procedure, health history and skin information will be reviewed.  This is why it is important to read all the information prior to booking...  The entire procedure will be explained and all questions thoroughly answered prior to starting.  Your skin will be analyzed and together we design a brow, which is totally unique to you.  The color will be mixed from the highest quality pigments.  The shape of brow and style of hair strokes will also be discussed, drawn on and agreed upon or modified until proper placement and look is achieved.

Am I a good candidate for this procedure?

I take great concern with making sure you are healthy enough for the healing process prior to performing the procedure. There are times when I cannot offer services: Pregnant or breastfeeding, known keloid scaring, certain skin disorders, active infection, blood disorders or uncontrolled diabetes.  I also suggest anyone with known allergies to do a test patch with a lancet and pigment to make sure you have no reaction.

If you have permanent makeup on your brows, we need to make sure that it is faded enough for the microbladed hair strokes to maintain its appearance.  We advise against the procedure if you currently are using any Retinol A or skincare treatments such as Botox, chemical peels, dermabrasions, mesotherapy, or any other intense treatments which will cause faster skin cell rejuvenating and cause skin irritation 2-3 weeks before.

You must be at least 18 years old or have our parent release form notarized and a parent present at the procedure at all times.

Who is NOT ideal for this procedure?

Someone with large pores on their forehead.

Someone with very dark existing permanent makeup.

Someone with severely oily skin. - Pigment will look more solid than like hair strokes and may not last as long.

Diabetes type 1 Or 2. - Prone to slow healing and infection, color may or may not retain well.

Have Thyroid/graves disease - Medication may cause pigment to not retain properly.

If you are pregnant or nursing. - No service, no exceptions.

*Sometimes retention with the above contraindications is still possible. Everyone's skin is different and retains different. Color retention is very different as well. This is an ART not a science. No specific results can be guaranteed.

Please note, even if none of the above apply Microblading cannot be guaranteed as this is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure.  I can give you amazing brows, but it is up to your skin to retain it! Generally results are amazing however they do differ due to skin typing, healing or bleeding during procedure.

What does the actual procedure entail?

After you have agreed to a shape and pigment color, you will lay flat on your back for the majority of the 60-90 minutes.  With a pattern drawn on, we have a visual “stencil” to use as a boundary for the hair strokes. We will scratch the skin with our disposable microblading tool and occasionally apply more pigment so the color will implant into the tiny hair strokes.  Once complete, the area is cleansed and you will be able to see your new, gorgeous brows!

Does it hurt?

It is slightly uncomfortable, but definitely worth it!  Just like with any tattoo, there can be some discomfort.  We are essentially scratching the surface of your skin with extremely sharp, tiny needles in order to implant the pigment.  We are not going quite as deep as a traditional tattoo, but there is some irritation of the skin.  We try to maintain your comfort by using a topical anesthetic before and during the procedure.  Unfortunately, everyone is different and numbing does not work for everyone.

How long does it last?

An initial application is incomplete until after a follow up appointment.  A follow up within the first 4-8 weeks is critical and touch up sessions may be necessary to achieve desired results.  It is not uncommon to lose some of the color after the first application.  We require all follow up appointments to be scheduled at the end of your session for 4-8 weeks in advance.  After this time period, we can no longer be held liable for any outcome or complications.

There are many factors that come into play when length of time is considered.  Results will vary based on your skin type, age, lifestyle and environmental factors.  We will go over all of this at your consultation.  Industry standard for normal skin can range is up to 12 months before a fill is needed. Please be aware that the pigment is designed to fade over time so it doesn’t settle into a blue or grey color after sun exposure. Client results will vary and everyone's skin is different.

Are there side effects?

Adverse side effects such as bleeding, bruising, redness, discoloration and swelling may occur.  Infections are possible as well.  Microblading is beautifully effective in most cases, however, there is no guarantee of benefits of the procedure. Result will vary based on skin type, healing and proper aftercare.

Will I still have to wax or pluck new growth?

Yes. While I cannot control your new growth coming back, you now have been given an amazing new template to make your maintenance much easier!

How do I know proper sanitation is being used?

I hold my studio to the highest standards as a business and sanitation is no different.  It is imperative that we take proper precautions due to illness, infection and the potential spread of disease.  Our blades are single use and thrown away after each procedure and all equipment, furniture and supplies are cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant.

Are you trained, licensed and Insured?

Yes, not only am I a licensed cosmetologist, I trained with Jack White and Mona Green for cosmetic  tattooing.  I have also been trained for microblading with Sara Millecam and Alyssa Johnsen of Everlasting Brows for more extensive training.  I continue to grow and expand my education, I'm a constant student of all things brows and lashes!  I carrying insurance required as an establishment.
